Lovell and O’Connell Architects Limited is a New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) practice with studios in Wellington and Wanaka, led by registered architects Tim Lovell and Ana O’Connell.

Based in the capital and the heart of Central Otago, we develop designs at a range of scales for anywhere in the country. Our Wellington studio, led by Ana O'Connell, brings more than 20 years of local expertise to projects across the region—from heritage villa renovations in Mt Victoria to contemporary new builds on the Kapiti Coast. Our Wanaka studio, led by Tim, focuses on bespoke residential and commercial projects throughout the Queenstown Lakes District.

Ana and Tim work closely together on the design stages of every project. Our design process is informed by a strong collaborative ethos, both within our team and across the partnerships we foster with our clients, consultants and builders.

We pride ourselves on maintaining an open-minded approach and clear design intent to create thoughtfully nuanced, quality buildings. We respond to and surpass our clients’ requirements to develop functional, unique and enduring designs that maintain a strong connection to the New Zealand landscape and are right for place.

Our work has been recognized with multiple NZIA Architecture Awards, including national recognition for our Wanaka House and Wellington Architecture Awards for both the Waikanae Beach House and Mt Victoria Villa Alteration.
